I choose to start my days leisurely with some quiet time for meditation and affirmations. On the days that I do schools it doesn't necessarily always happen that way but I still manage to set my alarm a bit earlier to create time for me. This morning however I have my own time with only the open roads towards Griquatown from Bloemfontein lying ahead. I feel supercharged as the school in Bloemfontein went smoothly and we managed to make a real change in the lives of hundreds of kids.
Deciding to follow the quieter roads I pass through a small town called Koffiefontein. I love riding motorcycle especially with Dante and Katryn constantly touching me and having conversations as far as we go. With a lot of stops to play for them and my thoughts still on the way I allowed my energy to be drained by short temperedness and feeling of being the victim. I try and stay aware of my every thought and as soon as I realize that the thoughts I am having has a draining effect I affirm the opposite positive thought. Soon I start to see the outside and how good the landscape and the change in weather makes me feel. With the rolling hills and horses every now and again I feel grateful to be here now on this motorbike and having the opportunity to give and share kindness with more people.
The school is in Upington and I have a few days to explore the towns and roads until then. The smaller towns have always been much more of an attraction to me than the bigger cities. The gravel roads only travelled by the local farmers feels like the vains connecting me with them. After having coffee on Koffiefontein I see that it is still early and I can easy ride to the next town Jacobsdal. The wide expanse of the landscape is energising and I feel like a small speckle in the ever wide never ending Universe.
With an abrupt loosing of power underneath me I realize that I need to put fuel into the bike. With Jacbsdal 17km away I decide that it is also a good time to have an early supper and an early evening for some exploring and meeting of the locals who can share their lives and more info on this exceptionally beautiful area.
Riding into Jacobsdal looking for a fuel station I passed beautiful old churches, a school and some wineries. The ethnic groups changing now rapidly from black coloreds and whites to more coloreds and whites. Afrikaans being the main language and more farmers is a refreshing change. At the fuel station I see a notice board of special lunch at the local hotel. I realize that this would be a great place to maybe sleepover and have early supper with locals to interact with. Curious about the people and the way they live in this small little town I make my way over to the hotel. With all my expectations met I meet a lot of the locals and get guidance to where and what needs to be seen and experiences. With some daytime left I take the dogs for a walk through the town. Stopping at the old church and making my way back in a circle to the Hotel.
After a good early supper we retire to our room as the cold came with the setting of the sun. Sitting at the small baywindow in the room I feel a deep sense of gratitude. I made small progress today to keep my thoughts and being positively aligned and shining love and kindness as far as I went. My thoughts goes to those I keep dear and close in my heart. My dad and Dorette, my baby brother Baks-staffordshire, Klits, Jane and Gina the farm dogs, Annalise Grobler from Aqua Salveo and Elzette van Niekerk from Builders. I send them love and good wishes and take a moment to explore the sense of gratitude I have when thinking of their influence in my life.
"The way we do small things determines the way we do everything. If we execute our minor tasks well, we will also excel at our larger efforts. Mastery then becomes our way of being. But more than this-each tiny effort builds on the next, so that brick by brick, magnificent things can be created, great confidence grows and uncommon dreams are realized. The truly wise recognize that small daily improvements always lead to exceptional results over time." - Robin Sharma
